Air is pure in its true nature, but on account of its association with different substances around such as emissions from vehicles, garbage; we sometime define it as pure air or air with pollution, similarly atma in its true nature is pure, but on account of its association with anadhi( eternal) kala papa and punya karma; it behaves differently, thus we sometimes frame a person as bad or a good person.
