Are the intelligent(or intellectual) class of men called Brahmanas?
----------------------------------------------------------------
What is Brahminical Qualities? According to ISKCON Founder Acharya Srila Prabhupad: The Intelligent class are the Brahmanas. Intelligent means; he meant :those who have acquired vedanta jnana; ability to understand about atma. ;

But we find many Kings in the past who were completely proficient in the science of the soul.. still they were identified as Kshatriyas. Eg Arjuna understood the science of soul after hearing gita; but still krishna did not say: Thus u have now become a Brahmana. No; then why did Krishna tell arjuna to fight as he was a kshatriya ?
Anyone irrespective of caste, creed, sex can understand the science of the soul by the mercy of Guru; and can thus preach about their experiences in Krishna consciousness by sharing krishna katha, Bhgagavad Gita, Srimad Bhagavatham etc..
If one is able to understand science of soul and krishna means; they have acquired Vaishnava Qualities. But a Brahmin has other duties to perform as his karma yoga as long as he has not become 100% krishna consciousness; That is Chanting Veda Mantras, participating and conducting in Vedic ceremonies which involves chanting of Mantras; which others(Sudra, kshatriya, vaishya by birth) are not Licensed and thus entitled to perform This is what differentiates between duties of Brahmanas and other castes.
Q) Why are they not licensed to perform(eg chanting of vedic mantras and conducting vedic sacrifices) although they may be pure?
Ans) Because becoming proficient in chanting Mantras and performing vedic ceremonies is a FULL TIME training activity where a student is trained in the Sandhai Method. Imagine what will happen if everyone attends this training for the whole day; then Who will Grow and cultivate food crops? Who will protect the country? Who will be there to engage in service industry?
In addition We cannot sustain the claim that vocations are determined today according to the qualities of individuals and their inclinations or aptitudes. Also untenable is the demand for equal opportunities for all. To take an example: there are a certain number of seats in medical and engineering colleges. For highly specialised and new subjects like nuclear science the seats are very few. When the candidates possessing the same qualifications (or merit) apply for admission to the colleges teaching these subjects only a fixed number are selected. Naturally, it is not practicable to choose all. Would it be right to contend that all candidates, even though equally qualified, who want to do research in a new science like atomic physics, should be given an opportunity? All those who apply for high positions in the government will not be selected for appointment even though they possess more or less same qualifications. The government decides that we need so many doctors in the country, so many scientists, so many specialists and so many officials. In choosing them, a number of candidates are naturally rejected. This system is accepted by all.
It is in the same way as candidates are selected for seats in the colleges or for appointments in the government that a certain percentage of people are thought to be sufficient for the purpose of conducting the rites meant to invoke the heavenly powers for the happiness of mankind - and these few function on a hereditary basis. Not more are needed for such a task since all the other work required for the proper functioning of the society will otherwise suffer. This is the principle on which vocations are divided. People agitate for the application for the principle of equality (a product of French Revolution) to scriptural matters without realising that it has hardly any place even in worldly affairs.
Thus it was clearly an ancient practise; that as per the kulam in which a person is born-->he is immediately sent to training in that respective karma and simultaneously taught to become Krishna Conscious. Thus ensuring both Worldly balance and spiritual balance.
Why did Arjuna use this word in Gita " Kulakshaye pranasyanti KULA DHARMA SANATANA.  ?
Gunam is acquired through training. This is a widely accepted principle; that is why we are sent to different coaching classes. If actions are not divided based on birth also --> then this will lead to a confusion as to : "Who will be sent to which training to get trained in the respective field and thus acquire that particular guna?". Everyone will thus want to get trained and  take up that work which  satisfies his false prestige, or that job that will give him more money and long term Job security. If everyone starts thinking like this-->Noone will take up menial professions like for eg. becoming an Archakar in a temple, or cleaning streets, or risking life for the country, or growing food crops. This will lead to an unbalance in the society as a society required all these menial professions also for maintaining balance.
 Because of this confusion prevailing currently; you can see everyday new Political parties are getting formed; each consider themselves highly effective person to rule the world--> thus creating so many internal rivalry and conflicts just to fill their pockets.
In our ancient culture; there were no such rivalry as everyone knew their respective duties in their childhood itself; and performed this as a service to godhead and simultaneously practised bhakthi.
Thus divison of Brahmana, kshatriya..etc-->is based on both Birth and Guna.
